Do you want to earn free airtime for sticking to your HIV treatment schedule? We've got the app for you.  The Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) is pleased to announce an exciting new mobile app called the "Zenzele Adolescent Adherence App" that rewards youth for staying on their HIV treatment with free airtime.  The app is currently available to youth aged 15-24 in Ekurhuleni and Tshwane, and you can register before March 31 by contacting 079 713 6847 on WhatsApp.  The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

This project is funded by the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and developed in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Health.

Youth living with HIV can use the app to receive daily reminders to take their antiretroviral medication (ARVs) and track their clinic appointments, to ensure they never forget about their HIV treatment and can continue to live life to the fullest!  Users can earn points that can be redeemed for free airtime by sticking to their treatment schedules and completing educational surveys about HIV, STIs, gender-based violence, and general wellness.

Users have been sharing their enthusiasm for the app, with one teen saying: "I'm excited about the app and I'm learning a lot from the questionnaires."  Another user said: "I got a reminder to go to the clinic today and that is very helpful. And, of course, I'm happy about the free airtime!"  The app's developers are eager to use innovative technology and airtime incentives to further South Africa's goal of controlling the HIV epidemic and ensuring as many people living with HIV can suppress their viral load by consistently taking ARVs.

Register today by contacting 079 713 6847 on WhatsApp.
